Accounts Executive

Job Description:

  • Prepare and fair daily Invoice and ensure completeness of billable disbursements.
  • Attend to Partners’ account queries relating to draft invoices.
  • Issue and upload payment vouchers for approval and posting into the system.
  • Post journal entries for accruals, prepayments, and disbursements into the system.
  • Perform bank reconciliations for bank accounts.
  • Assist the Section Head in analysing monthly expense reports.
  • File documents and provide other administrative support to the Finance Department.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Candidates should possess at least 2 years of experience in a similar position, with a Diploma in Accounting and/or a recognised professional accounting qualification.
  • Meticulous, detail-oriented, hands-on, and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good knowledge to Microsoft Excel.
  • Knowledge of Core Matter Accounting software is preferred; training will be provided otherwise.
  • Able to communicate comfortably in English, both written and spoken.
  • Positive attitude, teachable, and demonstrates initiative in learning.

Legal Associate (Real Estate)

Job Description:

This position offers a combination of real estate and banking work.

  • Real Estate work involves:
    • Drafting and reviewing sale and purchase agreements, leases, joint venture agreements and development rights agreements across a wide spectrum of real properties, including residential and commercial properties;
    • Attending to contract administration in connection with the closing of transactions;
    • Assisting with applications to the Ministry of Economy, State Authority, Estate Land Board and other relevant authorities; and
    • Conducting legal due diligence
  • Banking Work involves:
    • Preparing loan and security documents for retail and corporate banking transactions; and
    • Advising on and compiling conditions precedent

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • 1 – 4 years post-admission experience, with the ability to work independently.
  • Good academic results from a well-regarded university.
  • Experience relating to real estate and banking work, familiarity with conveyancing and banking processes.
  • Ability to conduct legal due diligence, research and advisory work.
  • Familiarity with regulatory applications in connection with real estate transactions.
  • Familiarity with banking matters will be an added advantage.
  • Experience in liaising with regulatory authorities.

Senior Associate (Banking & Finance, Debt Capital Markets)

Job Description:

The Senior Associate will be part of the Banking & Finance Practice Group, focusing on Debt Capital Markets (DCM) work. The role involves advising on and managing a wide range of financing and capital markets transactions, including bond and sukuk issuances, medium-term note (MTN) programmes, structured financings, and syndicated loan transactions.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from a recognised university.
  • Admitted as an Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of post-qualification experience (PQE) in Banking & Finance and/or Debt Capital Markets (DCM).
  • Demonstrated experience advising on bond and sukuk issuances, MTN programmes, and structured or syndicated financings.
  • Familiarity with Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) guidelines, Bursa Malaysia Listing Requirements, and Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) regulations.
  • Strong drafting and negotiation skills, with the ability to manage transactions independently.
  • Excellent command of English and Bahasa Malaysia, both written and spoken.
  • Strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Holds a valid Sijil Annual and Practising Certificate (SAPC).
  • Demonstrates high levels of professionalism, integrity, and commercial awareness.

Legal Associate (Corporate & Real Estate)

Job Description:

This position offers a combination of conveyancing and corporate work.
  • Conveyancing work involves:
    • Drafting and reviewing sale and purchase agreements, leases and tenancy agreements for commercial real estate
    • Applying for EPU, State, ELB, or other necessary approvals
  • Corporate Work involves:
    • Assisting in legal due diligence and other aspects of corporate exercises
    • Assisting in research and advisory work

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • 2 to 5 years of post-qualifying real estate experience, with the ability to work independently
  • experience in corporate work is an advantage but not necessary
  • strong drafting and communication skills
  • good time management skills
  • responsible, committed, and a team player.
  • ability to start work immediately is an advantage.

Pupillage

Train with us. With our master-pupil system, you will be learning through practice and observation and discover first-hand how to deliver legal advice to our high standards; thus giving you the tools to forge a successful career as a lawyer.

At ASL, the practice areas available to pupils during the nine-month pupillage period include the following:

  1. Banking and Finance/Debt Capital Markets
  2. Mergers and Acquisitions/Corporate and Commercial
  3. Equity Capital Markets
  4. Real Estate and Civil Aviation
  5. Projects (Energy, Infrastructure and Construction)
  6. Telecommunications, Multimedia and Technology
  7. Intellectual Property, Media, Sports & Gaming
  8. Dispute Resolution

Pupils may choose to work in any one (1) of the available practice areas. We also encourage pupils to explore different areas of practice before they embark on their legal career. Accordingly, we provide an option for pupils to work in any two (2) available practice areas which will be divided into two (2) categories, Major and Minor seats. The pupil will start at the Major seat for a longer tenure before moving on to the Minor seat for a shorter tenure, both which will cover the nine-month pupillage period in total.
